robert holland, willie boles, tom barnes, cliff taylor, bill hom, arnold shelton and art gordon all won 16 yard shoot offs to advance to the 20 yard line shoot off, and collected a $10.00 gift card. arnold shelton won a round and broke a $10.00 silver bird today. tom won the 20 yard shoot out and collected another $10.00 gift card, he also won raffle tickets in the bushwacker shoot out against eric patterson. tom and jacob patterson won the buddy shoot collecting $10.00 each in Christmas raffle tickets. tom barnes took the cutthroat in a shoot off with art gordon. so tom pretty much beat up on the rst of us today! please always remember, trap & skeet operations do not interfere with rimfire or centerfire operations.

what an awesome day at the best range this side of the pecos! good turn out for each event. mens rifle ended in a shoot off for sudden death between the beast and big frank, the beast rang the steel for the win with 22, big frank 2nd with 22 and guest shooter tyler smith followed in 3rd with 20 after a sudden death shoot out with chilo sanchez, chilo kept up all the way out to 300. ladies rifle was won by paula bracken with 23 followed by kim fullingim in 2nd with 19 and pam caltabiano 3rd with 15

Antelope 4-H shot trap today for their shooting sports visit to the range. Skeet was tackled on the other side. still no bounty claimed for the elusive 25 straight on the skeet range. Jacob Patterson fouled out and so did that sandbagger Bud. there were some good shooters today however they just couldn't haul the mail. the mailman even said he was going back to just shooting trap! good strong turnout in any event. Jacob & Jakob retired the colors today in fine style.
31 contestants showed for the 3rd annual "pull the trigger on breast cancer" Nor Cal Top Shot is held at the Tehama Shooters Range located on the Long Ranch in north eastern Tehama County. After some opening ceremonies and a safety meeting with station briefing a shotgun start was announced. Contestants fired a flintlock pistol, revolvers and semi-auto handguns and carbines as well. Rifles included were 45-70 Springfield, 1903 Springfield, AR-15 and M16 fully automatic, M1 Carbine, M1 GARAND, HENRY .45 long colt, M14, .308 500 meter station and .270 600 yard station. Nice Shot of Redding provided the M16 and ammo. as well as a .45ACP 1911 w/silencer and the subsonic ammo as a purchase station not included in the contest. Several people enjoyed shooting the highly regulated handgun including the dynamic duo of 2girls hunting, 13 year old twins from Shasta County who enjoyed the primitive handguns and the state of the art military style rifles that made this nation the greatest in the history of mankind. There were trap stations, tactical shotgun station and a trap/skeet challenge where shooters got a series of targets in a very rapid succession. A bounty of a refund along with extra points and a free lunch for the challenge was not awarded to any shooter. Archery was also incorporated into the contest as well as knife throw and tommahawk toss. Contestants, score keepers, attendants and guests enjoyed a steak sandwich lunch prepared and sponsored by A&R Custom butchering, Grocery Outlet and Nor Cal Jr Clay Busters. There were a variety of firearms displayed in the Club building including a Thompson w/rotary drum and other examples of other firearms in history, both foreign and domestic. After the shootin was over, the junior contest was won by Tate Knoor with a score of 81, second place went to Wesley Hambright with 66 and rounding out 3rd was Bradley Robertson scoring 63. The Ladies was won by St Elizabeth Hospital Mammography Tech Lori Raglin with 63, 2nd was secured by Suzanne Ciciliot shooting a 61, 3rd went to Traci Baseley with 50, and in the mens division TCSO Detective Eric Patterson secured 3rd with a score of 81, Event sponsor and rabid second amendment proponent and gun merchant John Bastiani placed 2nd with 83, the winner of the mens division and overall Top Shooter was dominated by Josh Sutherland a fierce adversary with a score 92 out of a possible 125. A thanks of gratitude to Sierra Pacific Foundation, PJ Helicopters, Bastiani Arms, Nice Shot, Nor Cal Jr Clay Busters, Grocery Outlet, R.P. Musselman, D.O., WGM Tactical, Uniqe AR-s, Vader Tactical, Red Bluff Vet Clinic, Long Ranch and BASIN/OUTBACK dvbe and numerous Club Members for making this possible. After all the donations are tallied and coordinated with sponsors a check or checks will be presented to Nor Cal Think Pink at the November wrap-up meeting. It is refreshing to see responsible people coming together and using firearms, responsibly to to raise money for such a great cause. Likely more than 5,000 rounds of ammunition went down range without incident.
Some really good pistol scores today. Peggy Jones, Al Powers, Jerry Wilson, Chas Lasley and Guest Shooter Greg Myers all shot a string on 10. Greg Myers however went on to shoot a perfect regular match and struck steel 3X in the bonus ending with a 33! Al Powers was right behind him with 29 and Jerry Wilson finished with 28. In the Ladies Peggy shot a 31! she did however choke in rifle with a 10 she looked good doin it! She fired the Pinkanator and wants it! Mens rifle was dominated today by BJ with a 26 Donn Kelly was 2nd with 23 and Pat Jones finished 3rd with a 20... all the winners today donated their winnings to the "pull the trigger " fund. Members stuck around to get the stations hashed out. there is work in the morning and then we shoot!
Upon Their prompt arrival today the Young Marines formed up, hoisted the Colors and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. After signing in they had a crash course on safety, personal safety gear and firearm function. Then they took over the rimfire Range and shot single shot .22LR at paper targets from standing, kneeling and prone. they fired relays of 5 shooters 15 rounds each relay. then they fired 5 round magazines from RUGER 10/22 rifles, with MIL SPEC sights, scope and conventional open sighted rifles to get a feel for semi-automatic. then they formed up and marched down to the centerfire Range for some AR-15 training beginning with a history of the rifle and a detailed function briefing. after each young marine fired 5 round magazines their parents and escorts were allowed to sample the rifles and some of these were first time shooters who are now HOOKED! after closing and cleaning the Range the young marines formed back up and marched up to the building to clean up and then formed up to retire the Colors. all together there were 22 young marines who participated today. Thanks to Pat Jones, Roy Fansler and James Coreless for their assistance today and the parents and escorts who attended.

1 Coyote and 8 pigs vacated the Range this morning before the contestants arrived. Club President Ed Little was on site to do estimates for the long term expansion projects. Nobody shot a 25 today in Trap or Skeet. We shot Trap first then moved to the Skeet field and shot a quick 6 person squad, no 25 there either. Tommy Two Dove Barnes cheated Sandbagger Bud out of the silver bird today, they donated the proceeds to the Club... Art Gordon outlasted Tommy for the Cutthroat win... Smilin Mike Carlson scared the line-up with a cracker shell today! Smilin Mike outlasted the Homburglar for the Bushwhacker win today. Tommy shot a foul in skeet. Most of the 4-H kids are preparing project animals for the county fair. The ones who did show-up shot rimfire silhouettes and then transitioned to the trap field for shotgun. If you have the time run out to the fair and support 4-H buy a project animal for process. You cant get a better tasting animal and you can write off the charitable value of the beast. Tom Barnes creeped within 1 target of a 25 today! Twice! Billy Hom shot some low 20's today. 3 fouls from Art, Gary and Wayne! Clay buster Wesley H. attended and got his first taste of skeet and shot a 22 with the 4-H kids. They all said "Look at that kid shoot"! everybody retired to the BBQ area for some lunch...

Billy the Homburglar out-lasted Cliff the Mail Man Taylor in bushwacker today. there was a good turn-out. there were some new faces around as well. we hope to see them return and enjoy the range. thanks to the Elliott brothers for running the match today.
some planning was done today to address the expansion plan of the Range. the club is looking at a 15 year plan of development to accommodate the growth of the club. the club has never been in better shape infrastructuraly and is very popular and has shed a positive light in our community of safe and responsible gun handling and range etiquette.
decent turn-out for todays open range day & swap meet. some skeet was shot, josh sutherland said "this is hard"! the trick is to either landmark the target or get way out in front of it! browns precision showed with some 'cast off' stuff, good deals! craig love tried the skeet range too! some good deals today on some good stuff! there is an item left up for grabs, 5,000 count large rifle magnum Federal Gold Medal primers, $400.00 or 1,000 @$80.00...message the club...
Strong turn-out for Skeet today. Shot 9 full squads and it took until noon. looked to be a strong turn-out for 600 yard benchrest as well. the bounty on the 25 straight has been raised to 10 shoot tickets. still no 25, a couple of 21 & 22's. the wind did start to blow pretty hard and began effecting the birds somewhat. Skeet is a fast paced tough game to shoot.

4-H Antelope shooting sports shot silhouette rimfire for awhile then they joined the trap shooters for their first experience at trap with an oscillating thrower from the 16 yard line. Some of these kids really show potential as multi-discipline shooters. and as always, please watch for rattlers. please calmly dispatch them with a shovel when you bump into one.
The Tehama County Young Marines invaded the Range today. Appleseed Instructors Laurie and Joe Gassaway, Carrie Patterson and NRA rifle instructor and Tehama Shooters Vice President, Jamie Raglin provided quality training. They taught accuracy and discipline. They started the day off with presentation of the colors, sat down for some class time and then fell out to the firing line to shoot for score. We hope they had fun and will return. The Nor Cal Jr Clay Busters shot their final trap shoot at the Tehama Shooters Range for the season. They will continue to sharpen their skills at the Clear Creek Sportsman Club shooting Sporting Clays. The season ends with the Gerald Sanders Tournament in August. We look forward to the Clay Busters shooting trap again beginning next year! Clay Buster Jacob Patterson shot a 24, he is creeping up on the perfect round!

18 turned out to shoot skeet today. this is a very challenging course. nobody yet has shot a 25! station 1 in the early morning is blinding, the birds are fast and very hard to see. everybody led off in a daisy chain for the 1st round and then sign ups for squads has begun. all matches from now on will be 5 man squads...

Happy Fathers Day! 2014 was the best ever on the Range! Many people came to shoot trap and play games eat food and win prizes! Beast Bracken won the raffle rifle pick, he choose the S&W AR-15... that leaves the Weatherby VANGAURD 30-06 for Christmas raffle rifle. Mike Carlson was the only 25 straight shooter today. there were a lot of good score. in the cutthroat it was a record turnout! Guest shooter "________________" choked on the silver bird, and that dad gummed Wesley shot it out will the Homburglar, in the end Bill out-lasted Wesley. The Bushwacker too was a record setter, in the end the Homburglar out-lasted the waiver for a double up victory. Everybody then retired to the Club house for some tom Brown Clay Busters beef! The raffle also produced a 1lb of IMR 4895, and 100 rounds of shotgun shells, both won by Eric Patterson. the beast also won a heater and a nice framed print from sierra Nevada brewery donated by long time craftsman Cliff Taylor, the beast donated it back and "_______________________" won it, he felt better after choking on the silver bird! we also gave away a copy of ASSAULTED: Civil Rights Under Fire, a hat, and a couple of t-shirts. the food, range and people are great! Your skeet range is officially open for business. More than a dozen showed up today to try their skills with skeet. The weather was perfect. Nobody shot a 25 straight yet, we will be watching for that. Some of the high scores were 22 & 21. This project has had some issues, we however have surmounted them, the range is functioning and has started bringing in some money.
Work-day 2014 was wrapped up by 1200 hrs again this year. Over 90 showed to cut trees out of the way, pour concrete, install another range use log box on the west end of the centerfire range, vent the east container, fabricate stairs for the high house, gravel the infield of the east trap, clean the traps, clean the containers, clean the building, clean the building drains, extend the target stands on the 1,000 yard backstop, weed eat acres of weeds, kill two rattlers, clean the latrines, watered the roads, moved the concrete bench tops from the rimfire range, eat over 40lbs of beef, give away a gun, a pound of VARGET, some .30 cal bullets, a t-shirt, and 10 father's day raffle tickets. What an amazing bunch of members and associates! Thanks to Lepage Co for the materials to build up the 1,000 yard backstop. You are Awesome! The work-day raffle gun was won by Gary Durden, he had pick of the AR-15 or the 1911c, he took the handgun, leaving the AR-15 for the Fathers day fundraiser. Lee Siemens won the 1lb of VARGET, Jacob Patterson won some .30 cal bullets, Richard Heinsohn won some .30 cal bullets, he exclaimed he had never ever won anything, Jason Pyle won a t-shirt, Nolan won a sirloin roast and Dennis Conner won 10 Fathers day raffle tickets. Each person who showed up today also received a raffle ticket for the Fathers day fundraiser. Tom Brown cooked up a good lunch with A&R Custom Butchering sirloin steak. The schedule for work-day squeezed together Service rifle, centerfire handgun, trap and clay busters all together today. the range was hoppin! good turn out for all venues of competition. Clay busters shot 16 yard trap before coming over to the West trap for a game of cutthroat, Travis Ferreira shot his 1st 25 straight just before. Jacob Patterson choked again on the silver bird. many a seasoned shooter fell to the kids today. Cutthroat ended up in a shoot off with Bud & Wayne Hambright, the sandbagger out-lasted Wayne. The bushwacker too weeded out some good shooters today with the shoot off between Wesley Hambright and the Cackler, Dave crowed, everybody gets the same after besting Wesley. Wesley has shot it out with some good "A" shooters! On the centerfire range today ladies rifle was won by PamCaltabiano with 20 and Kim Fullingim 2nd with 17, ladies handgun was won by Kim with 24, Lori Raglin 2nd with 22 and Pam 3rd with 9. Rifle in mens was won by Kevin Kumpula with a 26, the K-man shot a string of 5 on the bonus @ 500M today, 2nd place went to Big Frank with 24 and 3rd was secured by Jeff Ho with 23. Mens handgun, Jamie Raglin 1st with 29, Big Frank 2nd with 28 and a shoot off between Al Powers and K-Man resulted in Al striking steel 1st in sudden death with 26. Timberbeast brought a new flag, Old Glory never looked better! Cacklin Dave Boles shot a 25 straight today too!

What a great turn-out! First things first, the participants led the pledge of Allegiance. Then the kids shot silhouettes and dueling trees for fun this evening and then retired to a Tri-tip dinner with meat donated by A&R Butchering. This is a great organization and teaches kids responsibility, safety and just plain fun!

The 2014 Bob Stillwell Memorial 100 round trap shoot wrapped up today. 42 contestants shot 100 rounds for score in mens, A,B,C&D, Ladies, Junior and Youth. First place winners took home a buckle from Lone Star Silversmiths, second and third received Silver & Bronze Medallions engraved with the particulars of the match. Clay Busters provided a hot lunch for a small donation. A thanks of gratitude to everybody who turned out to compete, assist & watch. the details of the winners and their scores will be added later this week,
Trap & Clay Busters today. That stiff cool south wind was again blowing. In cutthroat custer Robert' hurry the hell up' Holland broke the silver bird and danced like a little girl, he shot it out with Brad Elliott, Robert out-lasted Brad for the double-up. Bushwacker seen a new first time winner with the Beast Bracken in a shoot-out with smilin Mike Carlson, Terry out-lasted Mike and had zero dirties against him. Nor Cal Jr Clay Busters finished up their NRA Shotgun Training and safety course and joined the shooters and shot regular trap and then everybody retired to the BBQ area for some lunch. Clay Busters held another bushwacker and Katey only hit one target in the air today but when she did she put out Chris with one clean shot! Eric Patterson ended up shooting it out with his son Jacob, Eric out-lasted Jacob for the win!
22 contestants today for the May service rifle & centerfire handgun match. Southerly winds increased with the morning pushing around the elusive 500 bonus target today. A lot of shoot-offs today as well, handgun seen the first shoot-off between guest shooter Greg Myers, Big Frank and Kevin Kumpula. Greg struck 100 yard steel first in the sudden death capturing 1st place with 28+1, Frank & Kevin shot it out for 2nd & 3rd, Big Frank struck steel first in the sudden death for 2nd with 28+1 and Kevin finished 3rd with 28... In mens rifle Big Frank, Pat Jones & Jeff Ho shot it out in sudden death at 300 Big Frank struck steel first securing 1st place with 22+1 Pat placed 2nd with 22+1 & Jeff rounded out 3rd with 22...In the ladies Kim Fullingim & Peggy Jones placed respectively 1st & 2d in both rifle & handgun, they did shoot-it out for score in rifle at 200 and Kim struck steel in sudden death dominating for 1st with 12+1 and Peggy finished 2nd with 12, Kims handgun score was 21 & Peggy shot 16, she is trying out a new GLOCK 9MM and as everybody knows she is most proficient with her revolver. There were first time contestants today who we hope will return too. The shot of the day belongs to Carbine Chas Lasley with his knocking over a steel target at 175 while shooting at the 200! Greg Myers shot a 10 straight string in handgun today also.Nor Cal Jr Clay Busters were having NRA shotgun safety training that is now mandatory for participation in the Clay Busters Shooting Sports.

BRRRRRRRRRR! the first day of winter blew in with a wet cold wind today. it however didnt keep people away, shooters shot both trap & skeet. cliff taylor shot a 25 in trap and choked on the 50! billy the homburglar dropped his final low house bird for a 24! still no 25 straight!
