The
Revolutionary War Veterans Association (RWVA) a
Non-Profit, sponsors the Appleseed Project,
a all volunteer program with the goal of making each
American a Rifleman.
A Rifleman is someone who scores
210 or better on the U.S. Army
qualification standard using a "Reduced"
target for the 25 meter distance.
Early in March, The Tehama Shooters graciously donated range
space for this worthwhile event.
Organizer, and Tehama Shooter Joe Gassaway, tells that they
had 15 shooters for Saturday and 12 shooters for Sunday,
with one shooter earning the coveted Rifleman's
Patch.
The event is free to all persons under the age of 21, free
to all Ladies as well as free to active service members.
All the proceeds from the event go to publication of
material for the event's and for targets and other items
needed to put on the shoot. They are insured with their own
liability policy and have their own Range Safety
Officer's (RSO).
Participants learn firearm safety and accuracy during the
two day event.
They begin with .22 long rifle @ 25 metes and work up to
High Power shooting from 100 yard through 400 yard targets.

Valentine’s day Trap shoot |
|
Several club
members showed up with their wives, some shot, and some just
watched.
Several guests showed up to shoot, in particular three
ladies from Redding, one with her husband, all well known to
myself came out and braved the cool conditions to be
introduced to the fine art of trap shooting.
After a safety briefing a beginner’s class was held with the
electric thrower on the .22 range.
Then we proceeded up to shoot a round of trap, the seasoned
members of the club are to be commended for their patience
and assistance with the novice shooters.
After a few rounds we all retired to the club house where
President of the club had prepared a tri tip lunch!
We then, full of good food returned to the trap range for a
game of bushwhacker with the silver bird hidden in the trap,
Bill Clark of Redding busted the silver bird, his wife
Debbie however put him out after that and then Kristi Raines
was put out by Dave Poteet, Bill Hom was the eventual
winner.
A good time was had by all in attendance.
High scores
for the Day were:
Tony Welch 25X25
Bill Hom 50X50

High
School Trap Shoot
Saturday January 30, 2010
Despite blustery conditions, Eight High School aged Shooters turned
out to participate in the second Tehama County High School Trap
Clinic.
Gerald
Sanders is to be commended for reaching out to the youths of our
County to foster an interest in safe firearms sporting events.
Several Tehama Shooters were on hand to assist with the project. The
ultimate goal is to form a High School trap team to compete at any
level they strive to achieve, in and out of school.
After
the shooters were finished their morning shoot, a hot lunch was
served.
A
thanks of gratitude goes out to the supporters and families who have
made this possible.
